How to Restring a Strung Doll

Do you want to learn to restring dolls like a pro?

When I first started collecting vintage dolls in about 2000, it didn't take very long before I realized I was going to have to learn how to do at least basic repairs.  The fifty-year-old dolls I was buying had fifty-year-old rubber bands inside them, which were almost always stretched out and brittle, if not broken entirely.

I didn't think about it too much.  I bought a restringing kit on eBay and took the plunge.

Over the years I've learned a lot about not just how to restring, but how to do it well.  I took that handwritten, hand illustrated, photocopied instruction sheet that came with our original restringing kit, and figured out what it didn't say.  I've found what supplies and tools work best, and developed techniques that make the job easier.  Most importantly, I've realized that me being able to buy a kit and just start restringing was not a fluke.  Restringing is not difficult by any means.  With a little knowledge and the right materials and tools, almost anyone can do this.

Despite the fact that restringing is relatively easy, I've realized that a lot of people doubt their ability to repair their dolls, so in 2007 I released How to Restring a Strung Doll, a short ebook with illustrated instructions on the basic techniques of restringing vintage dolls.  I am currently working on revisions to update the appearance and elastic purchasing information.

Since I released my ebook, I've sold hundreds of copies and have started working on instructions for other, more specialized types of vintage dolls.

For a limited time only, you can buy the original version of my original doll stringing instructions for only $2.99!  When I finish the additional instructions, I plan to host my ebooks with a third party platform, and the price will need to increase to keep pace with the additional fees.  Be sure to buy now to get it at this great price!

Interested in purchasing my ebook?  Use the contact form in the sidebar to send me a message.

The semi-automated checkout through PayPal that I used to use stopped working, so until I find a replacement, I will need to send a PayPal invoice manually.  Contact me with your PayPal email address, and I will invoice you.  Once you've paid, I will email you your copy of the ebook!  My apologies for the outdated checkout, but it's only until I'm able to get another automated system in place.
